Materials Team Member

Summary/Objective
The Materials Team Member is responsible for performing all duties involving shipping, receiving, stockroom, bar stock sawing and inventory control associated with these duties with minimal supervision.  Inventory control requires working knowledge of Material Requirements planning systems (MRP).

Essential Functions
Shipping

  • Ship products to customers based on instructions from our ERP (Enterprise Requirement Planning) system.
  • Communicate with personnel throughout the organization to resolve various special shipping instructions.
  • Package and label assembled product after final inspection per instructions
  • Place assembled output and products received from our parent company into correct storage locations.
  • Assemble a variety of subassemblies, standard and special products using established procedures.
  • Prepare shipments of our parts to outside vendors.
  • Request & file vendor PO’s

Stock Control

  • Issue and move blanks to manufacturing per job package
  • Issue parts to assembly kits. Review kit shortage frequently.  Move completed kits to assembly area.
  • Place completed manufactured parts and purchased parts into stock locations. Move Inspection items to INSP location and into stock after inspection
  • Daily cycle counts and determine best stock locations to optimize space and reduce chance of issue errors.

Receiving

  • Receive material into our ERP system and move items to appropriate storage location or area
  • Count and identify incoming material.
  • Receive RGA (Returned Goods Authorization) and store as appropriate
  • Operate and maintain fork lift truck to include recharging the battery and adding water every Friday afternoon

Saw/Heat Treat

  • Receive bar stock into ERP system, add ID mark and store bar stock
  • Saw and heat treat bar stock per shop package instruction

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers as well as electrical and environmental test equipment located in a dedicated laboratory

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Frequently required to sit, stand, move about the shop floor, talk, hear, bend and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to squat, kneel, bend or twist occasionally

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm.

Manual Machinist

Summary/Objective
This position involves set-up and operation of various types of manual machining equipment in accordance with company policy, procedures, and time standards.

Essential Functions

  • Set-up, machining, and inspection of a wide variety of parts 
  • Perform repetitious machining operations on production work
  • Machine precision products under minimal supervision using the ability to inspect parts, and to read and interpret drawings, sketches and work instructions

Competencies

  • Strong shop math skills, knowledge of work holding and machining principles
  • Understanding of cutting tool application and proper metal cutting parameters are a must for this position
  • Ability to work with colleagues in a professional and cooperative manner
  • Good communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Team player

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses shop floor tools and machinery.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate metrology lab equipment.

Mechanical Design Engineer - RD

Summary/Objective
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of power transmission products and associated components.  A proficiency in CAD design and detailing using SolidWorks is required. Hands on assembly and test experience are a plus.  Ability to function in a fast-paced, multi-tasking manufacturing environment in collaboration with other departments is required.

Essential Functions

  • Design electromechanical products and create manufacturing drawings to customer and Company specifications.
  • Design assembly and test fixtures as required for manufacturing.
  • Create test procedures and produce reports in collaboration with our sales department to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Work with purchasing and manufacturing to source vendors for component purchases and create bills of materials in our ERP system.
  • Written and verbal communication skills enabling a clear and accurate understanding when communicating with inside and outside sales as well as directly with customers or vendors.

Competencies

  • Strong mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated mechanical design creativity and pragmatic problem solving skills, with the ability to design with manufacturing and cost in mind.
  • Advanced SolidWorks knowledge required. Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP, etc.).
  • Sound understanding of GD&T.
  • Ability to generate accurate reports to clearly document and communicate findings.
  • Familiar with engineering documentation control practices.
  • Good basic knowledge of mechanical power transmission and motion control components.
  • Ability to work across teams and communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, and partners in a professional and cooperative manner.
  • Understanding of manufacturing capabilities and limitations.
  • Ability to multitask in an accurate, timely, and organized fashion.

Vice President, Engineering

JOB SUMMARY

This position reports to the CEO/President.  Candidates must possess a strong understanding of electromechanical motion products with a fine attention to detail.  Hands-on Prototype development and assembly capabilities are required. The ability to develop test programs for new or existing products is required.  Understanding of the dynamics of motion and a fundamental knowledge of precision Power Transmission components will also be expected.  The candidate will have the ability to develop new and unique products by working directly with customers, management, or sales engineers.  Must also have the ability to guide others in the development and test of product.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and/or create accurate design proposals for new and modified products through life cycle using strong management and math skills.
  • Oversee the creation of clear and accurate documentation for manufacturing, including detail and assembly drawings.  Insure drawings are to ANSI standards.
  • Oversee and/or create test fixtures and test protocols to insure customer requirements are met while insuring manufacturability and cost controls.
  • Design assembly test and fixtures and coordinate with sales and manufacturing to insure customer requirements are met.
  • Oversee prototype and first time manufacture of their designs to insure customer satisfaction.
  • Work with purchasing and manufacturing to source vendors for outside purchase of components.
  • Assist customers and vendors to resolve questions and problems with designs and drawings.
  • Coordinate with inside and outside sales to insure customer satisfaction and accuracy of documentation.
  • Work with assembly and manufacturing to trouble shoot and resolve design and manufacturing issues and police documentation changes.
  • Travel, as required, to support business goals and technical sales force.

KNOWLEDGE/ SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • BS required, MS preferred
  • Strong mechanical experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated mechanical design creativity and pragmatic, problem solving skills, with a willingness to take ownership of a project with demonstrated project managements skills.
  • Sound understanding of the technology of gears and motion mechanisms.
  • CAD and design experience
  • Sound knowledge of GD&T and ANSI standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of mechanical power transmission and motion control components.
  • Understanding of machine shop practices.
  • Hands-on experience in the design, development, and assembly of complex prototype designs.
  • Ability to multi-task in an accurate, timely, and organized fashion.
  • Ability to conduct structured and in-depth failure analysis and to present detailed and professional reports.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

  • BSME degree required
  • 10+ years hands-on management experience
  • Experience in change management
